LAHORE, Feb 10: Four people, including a girl, were killed while five others suffered severe injuries in rain-related incidents in the city on Saturday.

An under-construction house collapsed in Iqbal Town area as a result of which two labourers were buried alive. A watchman suffered hurts in the incident.

Police said the roof of an under-construction room of Islam’s house at Rachna Block caved in during work. Ajmal, 40, of Pakpattan, Iqbal, 35, and watchman Mohsin, 20, fell under the debris. Rescuers and police removed the victims from debris, but Ajmal and Iqbal died on the spot while Mohsin was taken to the Jinnah Hospital.

A teenage girl died while four others, including two children, were injured when the roof of a single-storey house-cum-shop collapsed in Barra Sanda area.

Sources said the incident occurred at the house owned by Attique in Zaman Park, Barra Sanda.

Bushra, 22, died on the spot while Attique’s wife Khalida, her children Ibrar, 8, Sehar, 16 and Asiya, 12 suffered critical injuries. Some local people, rescuers and the police reached the spot and removed the dead and the injured to the Mayo Hospital.

In another incident, a 12-year-old boy Amjad Ali was burnt to death when a fire broke out due to short circuit in a house in Akram Market, near RA Bazaar, in South Cantonment.

Rescue 1122 officials said the deceased was an employee of retired serviceman Mudasar Shah.

The fire erupted owing to short circuit during the wet spell. The police however expressed ignorance about the death but confirmed fire.

ACCIDENT: An elderly man was crushed to death by a speeding motorcyclist in Bhatti Gate area on Saturday.

Police said Ghulam Muhammad, 60, a resident of Azad Kashmir, had come to Data Ganj Bakhsh’s shrine to pay homage to the saint.

He was crossing the road when an unidentified man riding a bike (LXA-8748) hit him, leaving him injured.

The injured was rushed to Mayo Hospital where he died. The motorcyclist managed his escape, leaving the two-wheeler behind.

The victim’s relatives refused to lodge the case and received the body without autopsy.
