GUJRANWALA, Feb 20: Scores of low-paid employees at the local Divisional Headquarters Hospital on Wednesday protested against police for involving a wardboy in the motorbike theft.
The protesters gathered in the compound of the hospital and chanted slogans against the administration and the police. The leaders of the DHQ attendance welfare association claimed the administration had failed to provide justice to its employees for the vested interest of the doctors.
Executive District Officer (health) Dr Akhtar Ali assured them that an impartial inquiry would be conducted into the case against Muhammad Boota and their genuine problems would be resolved.
He constituted an inquiry committee comprising three senior doctors.
RELEASED: The Gujranwala district and sessions judge released over 93 prisoners involved in minor cases from the Central Jail during his visit here on Wednesday.
The judge reviewed the cases and directed the authorities to release them on personal surety.
He wished the prisoners would celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with their families.
URGED: National Democratic Party Chairman Omar Asghar Khan has urged the government to make efforts to retrieve the money deposited with the foreign countries’ banks by the corrupt politicians.

DISMISSED: As many as 11 police officials, including two ASIs, were dismissed from service by the SSP for breach of duty here on Wednesday.
Those penalized included ASIs Muhammad Aslam and Riaz Ahmad and constables Muhammad Tanveer, Shahzad Ahmad, Nasimul Hassan, Afzaal Ahmad, Mushtaq Ahmad, Muhammad Jamil, Muhammad Tahir, Zulfiqar Ahmad and Khalil Ahmad.
DIE ON ROAD: A woman and a minor boy were killed while scores of others sustained serious wounds in a road accident near Aroop Morr here on Wednesday.
A car (LOS-7789) was on its way from Daska to Kamoke when a speeding wagon crashed into it. Perveen Bibi, wife of Rafiq, and Arqam, son of Shafiq, died on the spot while several others received critical injuries.
