Two robbers held in DIG’s case

LAHORE, Feb 7: Police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested two alleged robbers who had injured a DIG over resistance in Gulberg on Jan 7 and recovered a snatched cell phone from their possession.

DIG Tasaddaq Husain was shot at by the robbers in the Gulberg area.

DIG (investigation) Azam Joyia told newsmen that a special team constituted after the incident included people with criminal record, including Irfan Javed of Bibi Pakdaman, in interrogation.

The police seized a cell phone from Javed, which was identified through EMI number.

The accused told the police that he had got the phone from Suleman, alias Munna, who was also arrested.

They told the police that they had snatched Rs3,500 and a cell phone from Tasaddaq and when the latter put up resistance, Suleman asked his accomplice to shoot him. The DIG said another team had been constituted to arrest the other accused.
