KARACHI, Feb 5: The Pakhtoon Action Committee has protested the alleged overcharging of royalty from Reti-Bajri truck operators, and said the royalty would be paid strictly as per the government-approved schedule.

Speaking at a meeting of the Sandstone Truck & Dumper Committee here on Sunday, Chairman of the PAC Shahi Syed said although Excise & Mines Departments had already fixed royalty at the rate of Rs161 per dumper, Rs119 per Hino truck and Rs105 per Bedford truck, contractors and administration were charging excessive amounts.

The meeting decided that from February 8 onwards, no trucker or dumper would pay the charges higher than those fixed in the scheduled and anyone demanding ‘extra money’ from them would face the consequences.

The committee has directed its members to monitor the transactions at the Toll Plaza, Super Highway, on Thursday.
