Prices of 16 kitchen items rise

ISLAMABAD, Feb 3: Price of 16 essential kitchen items including chicken, moong pulse (washed) moved upward during the week ended Feb 2, 2007, statistic division said on Saturday.

Weekly inflation measured through sensitive price index (SPI) indicated that price of chicken bird increased by 7.32 per cent to Rs69.06 per kg as against Rs64.35 and banana became costlier by 2.25 per cent to Rs32.22 per dozen against Rs31.51 the previous week.

The price of moong pulse (washed) rose by 1.31 per cent to Rs57.21 per kg from Rs56.47, tea prepared 0.95 per cent to Rs6.40 per cup as against Rs6.34, 0.58 per cent in mustard oil to Rs79.96 per kg as against Rs79.50, onions 0.58 per cent to Rs24.14 per kg from Rs24; rice basmati broken 0.56 per cent to Rs21.55 per kg as against Rs21.43, milk fresh 0.23 per cent to Rs26.50 per litre as against Rs26.44, egg 0.22pc per dozen to Rs40.82 as against Rs40.73.

The price of masoor pulse (washed) increased by 0.13 per cent to Rs46.93 per kg as against Rs46.87, curd 0.13 per cent to Rs31.09 per kg as against Rs31.05 and red chillies 0.08 per cent to Rs99.87 per kg as against Rs99.79.

The price of wheat flour increased by 0.07 per cent to Rs13.93 per kg as against Rs13.92, an increase of 0.05 per cent in beef price as it stood at Rs118.22 per kg as against Rs118.16 and an increase of 0.02 per cent in price of mutton to Rs223.50 per kg as against Rs223.45.
