KARACHI, Jan 31: Pakistan International Airline (PIA) has regretted the distribution of a brief to the media even before the start of debate on PIA in the Senate on Friday last and termed the incident “a genuine error of commission”.

The incident not only infuriated the opposition but some senators from treasury benches, who had objected to the distribution of media brief. The opposition termed it as an effort to undermine parliament and to overshadow the debate on the PIA.

According to a statement by the PIA Chairman and Chief Executive officer (CEO), Mr Tariq Kirmani: “The distribution of the PIA press release to the media before its distribution in the Senate had a chance to discuss PIA, is a genuine error of commission and PIA highly regrets that it transpired, and ensure that such an event never happens again.”
