HYDERABAD, Feb 19: Hyderabad District Nazim Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman here on Tuesday presided over a meeting of the district coordination committee where some taluka Nazims presented several schemes pertaining to roads, water and sewerage under Khushhal Pakistan Programme and sugar cess fund.
The district Nazim asked taluka Nazims and town municipal officers to submit schemes of roads, health and education before Mar 5 so that they could be included under Annual Development Programme 2002.
He disclosed that Bait-ul-Maal had been placed under him and new district Bait-ul-Maal committee had been formed to monitor distribution of Bait-ul-Maal funds.
On the objection of a sugar mill representative on the distribution of sugar cess fund, Makhdoom decided to call a meeting of representatives of sugar mills after Eid-ul-Azha to remove their apprehensions.
Later the taluka Nazims submitted several schemes for approval under KPP, sugar cess and district council funds under which Rs155.43 had been earmarked for Hyderabad, Hala, Matiari, Tando Mohammad Khan and Tando Allahyar talukas.
The meeting was attended among others by DCO Hyderabad, EDOs of finance, education, community welfare, works, law, taluka Nazims of Hala, Tando Mohammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Latifabad, Qasimabad, taluka Hyderabad and Hyderabad City besides concerned officials.
MEETING: A meeting of the Bait-ul-Maal Committee, Hyderabad, held here on Tuesday in the office of the district Nazim and presided over by him, discussed food support programme, financial assistance to needy persons and issuance of cards in this regard.
The meeting decided to form a new district Bait-ul-Maal committee headed by the district Nazim.
The Nazims of eight talukas of the district, Bait-ul-Maal officer Syed Hussain Shah Bukhari, Mir Fateh Ali Talpur and Tanveer Hussain will be the members and DCO Hyderabad, Mohammad Tariq Ayub will be co- convener of the committee.
It was also decided to form committees at taluka levels headed by taluka Nazims with councillors as members.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman here on Tuesday visited Rehabilitation Centre for Handicapped Children in Latifabad-4 and distributed Eid gifts worth Rs50,000 supplied by philanthropists.
He announced free supply of 90 maunds of wheat for the centre every year.
TREE PLANTATION: Hyderabad District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman inaugurated spring tree plantation campaign in the district by planting a sapling at the lawns of the district government secretariat here on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Nazim said that over a million plants had been raised at seven nurseries out of which more than 600,000 plants would be planted during the current spring season.
The district Nazim said that these plants were being sold to public at the rate of 50 paisa per plant and plants would be provided to educational institutions and armed forces free of cost.
