KARACHI, Feb 19: The Accountability court No. 4, headed by Judge Mohammed Jawaid Alam, reserved on Tuesday the judgment in a reference against a land acquisition officer.
The judge fixed Feb 28 for the pronouncement of the verdict after hearing the final arguments by the defence counsel, Syed Nadim Hussain Shah, and the special public prosecutor, Sardar Abdul Ghafoor Baloch.
Fazal Ullah Siddiqui has been charged for causing a loss of Rs35 million to the national exchequer in the release of funds on bogus claims made against the acquisition of land for the Left Bank Outfall Drain project.
GHOUS ALI SHAH: The accountability court No. 1, headed by Judge Dr Qamaruddin Bohra, adjourned the hearing of a corruption reference against Ghous Ali Shah, a former defence minister, after recording the statement of a prosecution witness.
The judge fixed Feb 27 for the next hearing after recording the statement of Syed Raees Ahmed, an officer of the Civil Aviation Authority, as a prosecution witness.
Syed Ghaus Ali Shah has been charged for appointing 122 people in the CAA, a department under the ministry of defence, in violation of rules during 1992 and 1993 when he was the defence minister.
NBWS AGAINST COPS: The additional district and sessions judge, Central, Ahmed Nawaz Shaikh, issued warrants for the arrest of an inspector and a head constable, who were not appearing before the court despite several notices.
Inspector Naeem Ahmed and HC Riaz Gujjar were required by the court for their evidence in a case against accused Ismail.
The accused was arrested in 1996 by the Khawaja Ajmair Nagri police for possessing an unlicensed pistol.
The court ordered the police authorities to arrest the cops and produced them before the court on march 15.
