KARACHI, Feb 19: Shughufta Zarin of Government Girls College Korangi No-4 won the inter-collegiate ‘ghazal’ competition held at the BAMM PECHS Government College for Women on Tuesday in connection with its students week celebrations.

Renowned singer Nayyara Noor, who was the chief guest, distributed prizes to the winners.

As many as 11 girl students from various colleges in the city took part in the contest.

The second position was secured by Zaheen Fatima of Government APWA Girls College.

Saba Sattar of the St Joseph’s Government College for Women was declared third.

Television producer Shaheen Ansari and Iqbal Nigar, a teacher at PECHS School, performed as the judges.

In her speech, Nayyara Noor spoke of the significance of music in human life. She was of the view that music was the best medium of expression.

PECHS College Principal Prof Nasima Ahmed, in her welcome address, praised Nayyara. —APP
