ISLAMABAD, Jan 20: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said that Ummah needs to portray the true image of Islam as a religion of peace, tolerance, compassion and brotherhood.

Talking to Prince Fahd bin Sultan bin Abdul Aziz al-Saud, governor of the Tabuk province of Saudi Arabia, who called on him at the prime minister’s house on Friday, the prime minister said that the growing divide between the people belonging to various faiths needed to be bridged for creating better interfaith, inter-cultural and inter-civilisation harmony for a safer and harmonious world.

He said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were strategic partners and they enjoyed unanimity of views on all important regional and international issues.

Prince al-Saud said that Saudi Arabia attached great importance to its relations with Pakistan and was keen to enhance cooperation between the two countries.

He emphasised the need to work for establishing peace harmony and stability in the world.

He said efforts should be made to resolve disputes, including Palestine, through dialogue.

Mr Aziz also held a meeting with Hamid Nasir Chattha, chairman of the parliamentary committee on Kashmir, and said that the ongoing process of composite dialogue with India should lead to a just settlement of the Kashmir dispute.
