PESHAWAR, Jan 20: Provincial Minister for Social Welfare, Zakat and Usher, Hafiz Hashmet Khan, on Saturday urged the philanthropists to support social welfare organisations as they provided valuable services to ailing humanity.

He was talking to the parents of the under-treatment patients at Hamza Foundation Hospital here. The provincial government was serving the down-trodden people, he claimed.He announced a donation of Rs20,000 for the foundation and said it would always be supported by the government.

DONATION: The National Lions Club International has donated Rs1 million for the bone marrow transplantation of Asma Gul, a cancer patient and first year student of the Khyber Medical College, Peshawar.

The club handed over a cheque of Rs1 million to Dr Fazle Ahmad, principal of the medical college, on Saturday.

Dr Ahmad praised the financial assistance provided by the Lions Club for the treatment of Asma Gul.—Agencies
