SSGC staff repair pipeline

KARACHI, Jan 17: The Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) has completed repair works on the 16-inch diameter Indus Left Bank Pipeline (ILBP) in district Khairpur and restored gas supply to all consumers on Wednesday evening, says a press release.

A spokesman for the SSGCL said the ILBP was ruptured by a powerful explosion on Tuesday near Rattar village in Faiz Gung tehsil.

According to spokesman, the pipeline carried 20 mmcfd of natural gas from Nawabshah to Sukkur city and to other towns and villages. A 30-foot-long piece of the pipeline was damaged abruptly. An emergency crew of SSGCL engineers and technicians reached the place of the explosion to carry out repair work.

However, the company maintained uninterrupted gas supply to the domestic consumers of Lakhi, Pir Jo Goth, Rohri, Kahirpur, Kot Digi, Ranipur, Kumb, Setharja, and Mehrabpur through available lines. The gas supply to industrial customers and CNG stations was immediately stopped to maintain domestic supplies for a maximum period.
