DERA GHAZI KHAN, Jan 16: As many as 53 schools have been found closed during inspection of 1,400 out of 2,100 schools in the district during the last two months, it is learnt.
Education department district monitoring officer Tariq Mehmood told this correspondent that during inspection of 1,400 schools, the team found 63 teachers absent and 53 schools closed.
He said Rs20 million had been distributed among school councils for their requirements.
Mr Mehmood said the district monitoring team found 200 schools working without buildings and some required new structures.
He said a four-member team had been constituted for arranging construction work while college councils would soon be formed, comprising industrialists and notables of respective areas.
ACCIDENTS: As many as 240 people lost their lives in 170 fatal accidents out of a total of 342 accidents in DG Khan range last year.
It is reportedly for the first time that the range police conducted a survey to analyse causes of accidents instead of old practice of declaring high speed a reason for every accident.
The survey reveals that most of the fatal accidents took place during 6.00am to 6.00pm. The accident ratio remained low from 10.00pm to 2.00am. Not a single fatal accident occurred from 2.00am to 6.00am.
DG Khan range traffic SP Sharif Zafar said scientific methods were being adopted to analyse causes of accidents.
He said most of the accidents occurred owing to over-speed, irresponsibility and wrong overtaking.
He termed truck drivers responsible as they used to drive from 2.00am to 6.00am in most of the cases.
