ISLAMABAD, Jan 16: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and district administration Tuesday evicted dozens of illegal occupants from 100 G-6 flats in an operation that was aborted on Monday after the intervention of some AJK Legislative Assembly members and representatives of some local NGOs.
About 60 Kashmiri families and over 40 illegal occupants were evicted in a peaceful atmosphere during the first day of the operation,” Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Muhammad Ali told this reporter. The operation would continue on the second day on Wednesday (today) to evict the remaining Kashmiri families and other occupants, the official said in a determined tone.
The removed families were provided free transportation facility by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to reach their destinations with comfort. The official said some illegal occupants had put up resistance, however, police managed to bring them round to vacating the flats.—Staff Reporter
