KARACHI, Jan 16: The Unive-rsity of Karachi has announced admissions to various departments in the evening programme. According to a KU notification, interested candidates can apply for seats available in the departments of Economics, English, International Relations, Psych-ology, Sociology, Special Educa-tion, Women Studies, Agriculture, Applied Chemistry, Biochemistry, Botany, Chemistry, Physiology, and Zoology.

Students are required to fill in a proforma that can be obtained from and submitted to the KU’s Directorate of Evening Progra-mme from January 17 to 20 during 3:30pm to7:30pm.

List of successful candidates will be displayed on January 22 at 12:30pm at the Silver Jubilee gate. Admission formalities can be completed during January 22 and 24. Students already admitted to the varsity are not eligible to apply, the notification concluded.

Video conferencing facility has been made available at the University of Karachi, adds APP. This was announced by the project director, Prof Dr Aqil Burney.

He said that this facility had been made available under the high speed fibre optics network project with the assistance of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the NTC.

The KU vice-chancellor, Prof Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, will soon perform the inauguration of the video conferencing facility at the institution, it was further informed.

Inter-departmental conferences, lectures and exchange programmes will now be organised with the availability of this facility, Dr Burney added.

He pointed out that the new KU website had also become operational. Soon email facility would also be made available to the faculty members, he added.
