Two students die on road

BAHAWALPUR, Jan 15: Two BSc students were killed when the wagon they were travelling in rammed into a tractor-trolley laden with sugarcane on Hasilpur Road near Chak 5/BC here on Monday.

The driver of the wagon coming from Hasilpur could not judge that the tractor-trolley was standing in the middle of the road.

Imran belonging to Mauza Sheikh Wahan of the Government Postgraduate College and another student Riaz died on the spot.

Police have registered a case.

STRANGLED: Faraz Khan, 5, was strangled allegedly by a neighbouring couple at Riaz Colony here on Monday.

According to police sources, Anwar Rajput, father of the deceased Faraz, had a dispute with his neighbour Ijaz a few days ago.

Ejaz along with his wife Zahida to take revenge allegedly abducted his son and strangled him in their house. The police have registered a case against the absconding couple.

KILLED: A 10-year-old boy was killed by a speeding truck at the railway crossing near local railway station today.

Police have registered a case against the truck driver.

POLIO DRIVE: About 500,000 children less than five years of age will be administered anti-polio drops during a three-day drive to be launched from Tuesday.

According to the health department 948 mobile and 115 fixed teams of employees have been assigned the task in the district.

The polio campaign was inaugurated by DCO Muhammad Ashraf at a public health nursing school here on Monday.
