LAHORE, Jan 12: Two unidentified people shot dead a lawyer allegedly over political rivalry in Garhi Shahu area on Friday evening.

Police said Niaz Ahmed, 32, along with his driver Ashfaq, was on his way to his Taj Bagh residence when two motorcyclists opened fire at him at Karachi crossing.

Niaz was critically injured in the attack while his driver remained unhurt. He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The police said Niaz and his opponent Mansha Sindhu were political rivals and also involved in litigation.

ACCIDENT: A teen-age boy was crushed to death by a wagon in Garhu Shahu area.

Reports said Shahid Iqbal, a resident of Ganda Engine shed, along with his father, was going on a bicycle when a speeding wagon (LHK-4767) hit him near Railway Caren Hospital, leaving him dead on the spot.

ASI INJURED: An unidentified motorcyclist shot at and injured a traffic ASI on Mall Road when the later tried to stop him.

ASI Afzaal signaled a motorcyclist to stop in front of Alhamra in Civil Lines area. The man stopped, took out a gun, fired at the official and managed his escape after leaving the motorcycle.

Afzaal was rushed to the Services Hospital with bullet wound in his neck.
