KARACHI, Jan 12: The rulers despite tall claims of economy growth have failed to deliver as increasing prices of essential commodities are instrumental in adding to the miseries of common man.

This was observed by speakers at the protest demonstration organised by the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal outside Baitul Mukarrum mosque in Gulshan-i-Iqbal after Juma.

Referring to the falling prices of oil in the world market, Jamaat-i-Islami Karachi chief Dr Mairajul Huda Siddiqui criticised the rulers for their failure to reduce oil prices in the country. He said public money was being spent on purchasing luxury cars, building bungalows and increasing bank balances.

Terming the Nowshera blasts a conspiracy to sabotage the peaceful rally, he said Qazi Hussain Ahmad was waging struggle against the corrupt rulers.

“If the government considers that the struggle against the corrupt rule would come to end with the removal of Qazi Hussain from the scene, rest assured every faithful would continue his mission,” he added.

Dr Mairaj said those talking about sectarianism in the country were indulging in baseless propaganda as the entire Ummah was united.

Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan’s Abdul Haleem Ghori said the MMA was making efforts to enforce Islamic system and create an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity in the country.

MPA Nasrullah Shaji said all roads in the city had been dug up and lawlessness and street crimes were on the rise but the rulers remained unmoved.

MPA Yunus Barai said people had rejected the rulers and their policies, who had deprived them even from a square meal.

MNAs Muhammad Hussain Mehanti and Laeeq Khan said the blast during the peaceful public meeting was an attempt to provoke the party workers. However, they said, such actions could not desist the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) from its struggle for the enforcement of Islamic system in the country.
