Price of 17 items shows rise

ISLAMABAD, Dec 30: Seventeen essential items registered increase in their prices during the week ended December 29, 2006.

Official figures released by Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) here on Saturday showed that price of LPG cylinder increased by 3.97 per cent to Rs536.53 as against Rs516.06 and garlic up by 2.90 per cent at Rs68.56 per kg as against Rs66.63.

The price of vegetable ghee (loose) increased by 2.24 per cent to Rs69.95 per kg from Rs68.42, mustard oil up by 1.29 per cent to Rs75.65 per kg as against Rs74.69, red chillies rose by 1.55 per cent to Rs98.76 per kg from Rs97.64; vegetable ghee tin (2.5-kg) up by 1.12 per cent to Rs218.53 as against Rs216.50, cooking oil tin (2.5-litre) up by 1.06 per cent to Rs218.79 as against Rs216.50, moong pulse (washed) 0.73 per cent to Rs53.53 per kg as against Rs53.14.

The price of firewood increased by 0.31 per cent to Rs190.85 per 40 kg as against Rs190.26, gur 0.23 per cent to Rs39.57 per kg as against Rs39.48, gram pulse (washed) 0.20 per cent to Rs46.05 per kg as against Rs45.96, masoor pulse (washed) by 0.13 per cent to Rs46.48 per kg as against Rs46.42, rice basmati broken by 0.09 to Rs21.24 per kg as against Rs21.22, wheat 0.08 per cent to Rs12.30 per kg as against Rs12.29, milk fresh 0.08 per cent to Rs26.50 per litre as against Rs26.48, wheat flour 0.07 per cent to Rs13.83 per kg as against Rs13.82 and mash pulse washed 0.01 per cent to Rs70.10 per kg as against Rs70.09.
