KARACHI, Dec 28: The Sindh government has constituted a committee to take action against operators of buses and coaches charging higher fares. The committee, set up on the directive of Sindh Transport Minister Adil Siddiqi, will take on-the-spot action against those charging more than fixed fares on the occasion of Eidul Azha.
The committee comprises the Secretary of Provincial Transport Authority, the secretary of the District Regional Transport Authority, magistrates of the town concerned and representative of traffic police.
In this regard, the provincial government has made it binding on the City government to depute officials having special magisterial powers at bus terminals functioning in towns and ensure action against those charging higher fares, indulging in over-loading and dispose of public complaints in this regard.
The provincial transport department has sent a letter to the DCO of Karachi in this respect.
The committee members will visit inter-city bus termini andtake action against charging of higher fares.—APP
