KARACHI, Dec 24: Secretary General of the Pakistan Muslim League Mushahid Hussain Sayed has said that the government’s all policies and endeavours are aimed at making the Quaid-i-Azam’s dream of a prosper, enlightened, moderate and progressive Pakistan come true.

He described the legislation on protection of women’s rights as part of the same aim.

He was talking to a group of newsmen after attending the ‘Children’s Assembly’ organised by Deputy Speaker of the Sindh Assembly Ms Rahila Tiwana to mark the Quaid’s birth anniversary, Christmas, the PML Centenary and refurbishment of the historic Sindh Assembly Building.

Mr Hussain rejected the claim that the government had taken a ‘U-turn’ on the Kashmir policy, and argued: “War doesn’t offer a solution to the Kashmir problem and, as such, the government has always opted for a peaceful solution through negotiations.”

In reply to a question, the PML leader ruled out any adverse effect on Pakistan-Iran relations as a result of any resolution passed at the UN against Iran.

About greater provincial autonomy, he said that a package was being prepared to include financial autonomy, administrative matters and certain subjects of the concurrent list. The package, he added, would probably be announced next month.

Mr Hussain, who heads a parliamentary committee on Balochistan, said the committee had recommended holding of negotiations to find a peaceful solution to the Balochistan issue.

When asked to comment on PML-PPP contacts and possibility of an electoral alliance between the two parties, he said that inter-parties contacts and talks were part of a democratic dispensation.
