KASUR, Dec 17: Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasrui has said that no decision on Kashmir will be taken without consulting the cabinet and parliament.

“Islamabad will never compromise on Kashmir as it is an integral part of Pakistan. Any decision against the wishes of the Kashmir people will not be accepted,” he said while talking to reporters after addressing a public meeting here on Sunday.

The minister said that Islamabad would not withdraw moral and political support to the Kashmiri people in their struggle for right to self-determination.

Mr Kasuri said that Pakistan had made it clear that dialogue with India on Kashmir would be on an equal footing.

Answering a question, he said Pakistan-India relations had made greater progress over the last two years than during the last 59 years.

He said that President Gen Pervez Musharraf's recent interview aired by an Indian TV channel had opened new dimensions. “This interview has forced Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to think seriously on Kashmir,” he said.

Mr Kasuri said despite the US pressure Pakistan did not support the attack on Iraq and that was why it refused to send troops there. “Pakistan’s foreign policy on the gas pipeline project from Iran and the Israeli attack on Lebanon also speak volumes about the success of the policy.”

He added that the Kalabagh dam would be constructed but only after taking all the provinces into confidence.
