114 more employees arrested in Quetta

QUETTA, Feb 16: The city police arrested 114 more protesting government employees for violating section 144 here on Saturday.

The police took the action after the employees, mostly clerks, had gathered in the lawns of the Quetta Municipal Corporation to protest against the government for not accepting their demands regarding 40 per cent special and utility allowance.

Speaking to the protesters, All Pakistan Clerks Association leaders, criticized the Balochistan government for not granting utility allowance to the employees of the Quetta district.

They announced that the association would continue its struggle to press the government for the acceptance of the employees’ demands.

Official sources said that the police had released all the employees arrested during last three days. “Clerks arrested today will be released tomorrow”, a senior police officer said.
