Closed-circuit cameras at shrines

Published November 21, 2006

LAHORE, Nov 20: The Auqaf department will install closed-circuit cameras at shrines and mosques to provide protection to devotees and visitors. Punjab Auqaf Minister Syed Saeedul Hasan said on Monday that closed-circuit cameras had so far been installed at the Badshahi Mosque and Data Darbar Complex.

To check embezzlement of funds from cash boxes at `mazars’, he directed members of the Auqaf Affairs Committee to ensure their presence when boxes were opened.

He also ordered the completion of development projects undertaken by the department within the stipulated time, and urged committee members to offer suggestions for further improvement in arrangements at shrines.—APP
