KARACHI, Nov 18: Two persons were shot dead in a shantytown near Sohrab Goth on Saturday.

Akhtar Lal and Noor Mohammad, residents of Afghan Basti, exchanged words on a petty matter a couple of days back. In wee hours on Saturday, the son of Noor Mohammad, Barzakh barged into the house of Akhtar Lal and shot at him and his wife Lal Khatoon. Area watchman, Ameer Mohammad, heard the gunshots and tried to nab Barzakh, who shot him and fled. The injured were rushed to a hospital where Ameer and Lal Khatoon were pronounced dead. Akhtar was admitted to the hospital in serious condition.

In Gulshan-i-Iqbal, a charred body of a naked girl was found in the bushes. Police said the killers sprinkled acid on the body in an attempt to hide her identity. They said the killers’ intention appeared to eliminate all proofs.
