KARACHI, Feb 15: Shah Faisal Town has been functioning without a Town Municipal Officer (TMO) for the last six months.

When contacted, the Town Nazim Haji Mushtaq Ahmed conceded it, saying that he had raised the issue at the proper forums and before the governor many a times, but so far no official had been appointed.

The Nazim said he did not understand the reason for the delay as many officials had offered their services.

Apart from that, the town administration is without a TO Infrastructure, Xen Park, Xen M&E, Xen B & R and some other vital posts which are lying vacant.

The area of Shah Faisal Town starts from PAF Drig Road along the Railway Lines and ends at Malir River Bridge. It comprises seven union councils- Natha Khan Goth, Pak Sadaat Colony, Drig colony, Reta Plot, Morio Khan Goth, Rifah-e-Aam and Al-Falah Society.

It is one of the largest towns in the city with a population of 3,60,000 people who have been facing various problems including sanitation, sewerage, shortage of water etc.

“The delay in the appointment of a TMO has not only badly upset the day-to-day administrative work, but it has affected the development work in the town as well”, said an official.

At present, all the administrative functions are being performed by the TO regulations.
