One killed, 15 hurt on road

SHEIKHUPURA, Feb 15: One passenger was killed while 15 others received injuries in two road accidents here on Friday.

The first accident occurred near Arianwala on the Faisalabad Road where a speeding bus collided with a pick-up. Riaz Masih died on the spot while 12 others sustained injuries. The drivers of both vehicles managed to escape.

Three tonga riders, including a coachman, sustained serious injuries when a speeding van rammed into it on the Nankana Road near Warburton. Amin, Younas and the coachman were removed to a nearby hospital.

Police are investigating the matter.

HOUSE LOOTED: Outlaws on Friday took away cash, valuables and ornaments worth Rs0.4 million from a house in Pir Bahar Shah locality.

Four armed dacoits broke into the house of Abdul Majeed, held the inmates hostage, collected cash, ornaments and valuables and decamped with the booty. Majeed recognized the dacoits and got registered a case against accused including Nasir and Tariq.

A-Division police are going into the matter.

Thieves took away two transformers worth Rs200,000 from Warn village, some 25 kilometres from here.

Saddar police are going into the matter.
