LAHORE, Feb 15: Federal Tourism Secretary Yousaf Kamal has said that most of monuments in the country have been subjected to ‘vandalism’.
He was talking to reporters after unveiling the world’s largest paper-made kite at Faletti’s Hotel on Friday.
Mr Kamal said it was a matter of great concern that the Mughal era’s hydraulic system at the Shalamar Gardens was removed just to wide the road. He said the whole world community had registered protest at the incident.
He said the tourism ministry was working to restore these monuments on a medium and long-term basis by pressuring Unesco through the international community. He said that some crumbling monuments would be restored by the Cultural Heritage Fund for the future generations to come. — Reporter
