Graduation condition must stay: PAT

FAISALABAD, Feb 15: Corrupt politicians will again come to the fore if the government withdraws the condition of graduation.

This was stated by Pakistan Awami Tehrik central and local leaders while speaking at the workers’ convention at Jinnah Hall here on Friday.

They said the government should accelerate the accountability process against corrupt politicians and bureaucrats.

The PAT, they said, was planning an election alliance with some like-minded party for the next general election. Laws should be framed to ban corrupt politicians from contesting the polls, they said.

Only PAT could steer the country out from political and financial crises for it had experienced breed of politicians, they said.

The convention passed a number of resolutions urging the government to hold polls by implementing elections reforms in letter and spirit.

Another resolution urged the rulers not to pay any heed to the demands and threats of corrupt politicians about the boycott of election.

It may be mentioned that PAT’s convention was a step towards launching election campaign and motivating workers and office-bearers about the party policy.

The workers convention was addressed by PAT central secretary-general Anwarul Hussain Alvi, Punjab president Khaleelur Rehman Chishti and other leaders.

JI THREATENS: The Jamaat-i-Islami has threatened to march towards Islamabad in protest against what it called illegal arrest of Qazi Hussain Ahmad.
