LAHORE, Nov 3: Lower Mall police claimed on Friday to have arrested two people from a godown and seized 70,000 kites and 2,000 rolls of twine worth Rs5 million.
The police also recovered 125 bottles of liquor from the godown, situated at Outfall Road.
According to an operations police spokesman, the accused used to provide liquor to the people, besides selling kites and twine.
Two culprits managed to escape.
Meanwhile, DIG (operations) Aamir Zulfikar Khan said no one would be allowed to violate the ban on manufacturing of kites, twine and kite flying.
He directed the city SP to order all SHOs to ensure mosque announcements about the arrests of violators and strict action in their respective jurisdiction.
He further directed the police to use official vehicles and inform the locals through mega phones that no leniency would be extended to the people involved in manufacturing, selling and flying of kites. — Reporter
