Small hydel stations planned in NWFP

PESHAWAR, Nov 2: NWFP Minister for Information Technology Hussain Ahmad Kanju has said that the government plans to set up hydel power stations throughout the province, especially in Malakand division, for industrial development.

He was presiding over a high-level meeting held in the Frontier House Saidu Sharif on Thursday to discuss establishment of a hydel power station in Utror.

The meeting was attended by DIG Malakand Range Qudrat Ullah Marwat, DCO Swat Shahab Ali Shah, HRDO and elite of Utror and jirga members.

He said the provincial government was giving top priority to utilisation of natural resources in the best public interest to ameliorate the lot of poor people.

He said opportunity existed for establishment of small hydel power stations in various places on the Swat River.—APP
