KARACHI: World Space Week

KARACHI, Nov 1: The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission in consultation with Spaceweek International Association will celebrate the World Space Week with the theme of “Space for saving life” from Nov 6th to 12th.

The activities and events being organised in this regard are aimed at enhancing awareness among people, particularly the young generation, of the benefits of space science and space technology. This year, the space week will be celebrated simultaneously in Karachi and Islamabad under the aegis of the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission.

The activities and events during the weeklong programme would include panel discussions, seminars, sky simulation shows, quiz and painting competitions, declamation contests and space family fairs.

The schedule of the activities during the week is as follows: Inaugural ceremony would be held on Nov 6 at 10:45am at the Institute of Space Technology, Islamabad. The departure of space education bus would be held Nov 7 at 11am at Suparco headquarters, Karachi. Quiz among various schools on Nov 8 at 10am at Suparco HQs and at 2pm at IST, Islamabad; declamation contest on Nov 11 at 10am at Suparco HQs, and at 2pm at IST Islamabad. Sky simulation shows are planned from Nov 6 to Nov 10 at PIA Planetarium as well as Space Family Fair on Nov 11 at PAF Museum and IST.—PPI
