SUKKUR, Oct 28: Three minor girls, including two sisters, were killed and two women were injured when armed persons attacked the Hamza Shar village in the jurisdiction of the Ranwti police station in the katcha area of Ubauro, Ghotki district, on Saturday afternoon.
Reports reaching here said that a group of armed men raided the Hamza Shar village and resorted to indiscriminate firing.
Resultantly three minor girls, Haleeman, 8, and Sughra, 5, both daughters of Mohammad Hashim Shar, and Marvi, 6, daughter of Humair Shar, were killed on the spot and Mehnaz, daughter of Hamza Shar, and Mai Bhagul were injured and shifted to a local hospital, while the assailants escaped when the villagers retaliated.
Hamza Shar told newsmen that Dhondho tribesmen were behind the killing as Dhondho and Shar tribesmen were daggers drawn over an old land dispute since last 15 years, which so far have claimed more than 10 lives.
However, no case was registered till filing the report.
HOAX BOMB CALL: A hoax bomb call sparked panic and fear at the Sukkur railway station on Saturday noon.
According to the railway police, at about 12:00 noon an anonymous caller told police that a bomb has been planted at the Sukkur railway station. A heavy contingent of railway police along with the bomb disposal squad rushed to the railway station, cordoned the entire area and started searching for the bomb.
The bomb disposal squad searched all coaches and a local train and the entire building of the station.
Later, the bomb disposal officials also patrolled the railway track from Rohri to Arain railway stations but no bomb was found after which the railway station and the track was declared cleared.
Investigation was under way to locate the hoax caller as his phone number was not visible on CLI.
