HYDERABAD, Oct 18: The vice chancellor, University of Sindh Jamshoro, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui has said that the universities had a great responsibility to shoulder as they had not only to cater to the present day needs but also to keep an eye on the future requirements.

He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the second software/hardware projects exhibition prepared by the students of MSc final year and BSc third year of the institute of information technology at the Jamshoro campus on Thursday.

He said that the universities were expected to produce experts and scholars, who can play a positive role in the development of society and meet the future needs of the country.

He urged the students to be serious and disciplined in every field of endeavour.

He said that Sindh University will be model university of the 21st century and assured the young scholars that all facilities will be made available to them for their research work.

Mr. Siddiqui announced R1,000 award for every project prepared by the students.

Speaking on the occasion, the director of the institute of information technology, Dr Haji Khan Soomro said that for proper training of the students, the institute was assigning them different projects and added that so far 34 projects had been prepared by the students.
