LAHORE, Oct 20: The Punjab Seed Corporation (PSC) has made arrangements to provide 1.5 million maund wheat seed of seven different varieties to farmers during the current Rabi season.

Punjab Agriculture Minister Arshad Khan Lodhi said while talking to journalists here on Friday.

All 1.2 million maund wheat seed will be provided in Punjab through 19 PSC sale centers and 1,200 dealers, he said. The rest — 0.3 million maund wheat seed - will be provided to the other provinces, he said

The minister said that strengthening the seed corporation was the need of the hour to end monopoly of multinationals and protect interests of farmers.

REACTION: Talking to this scribe about the forthcoming wheat sowing drive, farmers from central Punjab said that reduction in fertiliser prices was a good omen and hoped that wheat target set by the government might be surpassed. They said they feared price crash as happened in the past.
