Elections tomorrow

LAHORE, Feb 14: Elections of the provincial hockey association of three provinces under the new sports policy are scheduled  to be held simultaneously on Feb 16.

The elections of the Punjab Hockey Association will be conducted by A.V.M (retd.) Farooq Umar at the National Hockey Stadium Lahore. The NWFP association elections will be supervised by Wing Cdr Pervaiz Saeed Mir at the Qayyum Sports Complex, Peshawar and that of Sindh Hockey Association by Col. (retd.) Muhammad Afzal Khan at the Hockey Club of Pakistan, Karachi. The elections for the Balochistan Hockey Association will be held later.

According to the PHF decisions, the individual indicted or convicted by any court of law or having been suspended, debarred or removed by any competent authority shall be ineligible to contest the provincial elections.

A representative of the district having five or more approved clubs shall have right to vote and contest any office/membership/representation in the provincial association elections.

While the representative of a district having minimum of two approved affiliated clubs in the district shall not have right to vote nor contest for any office. However, a representative of a district having minimum of three approved clubs has right to vote but no right to contest.
