KARACHI, Oct 20: The Board of Advanced Studies and Research of University of Karachi on Friday notified that second admissions intake 2006 to MPhil/ PhD/MS and MD programme has been allowed from Oct 16 to Nov 15.
A KU notification further advised the candidates to fulfil requirements as per rules, including admission interviews, and added that this would be the last intake under old system of admissions. The next intake/admissions in March 2007 shall be made under the new system.
CONFERENCE: The Faculty of Arts, Karachi University (KU) is organizing two-day international multimedia conference in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission on Nov 3 at Arts Auditorium, KU.
The theme of the conference is “Quality Research in Developing Countries: Opportunities and Challenges”.
Vice Chancellor of KU Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui will preside over the conference whereas Professor Dr Adrian Holiday, Christchurch University of UK, will also address.
HOLIDAYS: The Dow University of Health Sciences and its constituent institutions, i.e Dow Medical College, Sindh Medical College and Ojha Institute of Chest Diseases will remain closed from Oct 23 to 25 on account of Eidul Fitr.
FAPUASA: The Federation of All-Pakistan Universities Academic Staff on Friday urged the President to take notice of the increasing unrest in Balochistan University following the appointment of military officer as it VC and demanded that academician be appointed in his place forthwith.
FAPUASA President Prof Sarwar Nasim said that if the military officer was not removed as VC, the present unrest among teachers, students and employees might create law and order situation in Balochistan.
Recently appointed army officer as VC has started taking arbitrary decisions, thus violating the universally recognized freedom as well as autonomy of the varsity, he alleged.—PPI
