KARACHI, Feb 14: The Sindh Health Department, in compliance of a judgement of the Supreme Court, has provisionally restored the seats reserved for the children of doctors/dental surgeons domiciled in Sindh.
According to the Health Department, the last date for the submission of application forms for these seats is Feb 22.
For children of doctors 18 seats are reserved in the MBBS course — six seats for children of medical teachers, six for children of doctors who are Sindh Government employees and six for children of private practitioners.
For children of dental surgeons, four seats are reserved in the BDS course — one seat for children of medical teacher, two seats for children of doctors who are Sindh Government employees and one for children of private practitioners.
College-wise allocation of these seats are as follows:
MBBS: DMC 4, SMC 4, LUM&HS 4, PMC 4 and CMC 3.
BDS: LUM&HS 4.
The conditions laid for such admissions are as under:
— Medical teachers must be registered with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council. Must have 10-year service in medical college or retired or died after 10 years of service and not dismissed, terminated or absconding.
— Staff members of JPMC, NICH and NICVD who are holding the designation of senior registrar or above and are engaged in teaching of students of Sindh Medical College for 10 or more years shall also be obliged.
— In case of doctor employees of Sindh Health Department, they must have at least 10 years regular service to the department or properly retired after rendering 10 years of service and not dismissed, terminated, absconding,
— In case of private practitioners, they must have at least 10 years of standing as full-time private practitioner after registration with the PMDC.
— The selection of the candidates shall be made on the basis of their adjustment merit taking into consideration the marks of intermediate, matric and entrance test.
— For the purpose of admission a dental teacher, must have 10 years teaching experience, and must have rendered 10 years regular service as a dental surgeon and a private dental practitioner must have 10 years standing in profession after registration with the PMDC.
According to the Health Department, only those candidates who have already applied for admission to the MBBS class 2001-2002 and appeared in the entrance test are provisionally eligible for these seats at their own risk and cost till the final decision of the Supreme Court.
Candidates have been advised to apply at respective selection centre with service certificate/ PMDC registration latest by Feb 22. — APP
