KARACHI: Arshad Pappu remanded

KARACHI, Oct 12: Alleged gangster Arshad Pappu was remanded to police custody till Oct 17 on Thursday in an attempt to murder, illegal weapon and explosive substance case.

Arshad Pappu, stated to be a key contender in ongoing Lyari gang-war, was arrested by the CID police with his accomplice following a raid and encounter at his house at Nia Abad, Lyari.

Police also recovered two kalashnikovs, a hand-grenade and two-loaded magazines from their possession.

Police said Arshad is wanted in various cases of murder, attempt of murder, kidnapping for ransom, extortion, police encounter and more than 60 incidents of firing.

Government had also placed a head money of Rs3 million on him. Arshad was produced before Judicial Magistrate South Khoshi Mohammad amid tight security.

The JM remanding the accused to police custody till Oct 17, directed the police to produce him on the next date of hearing.—PPI
