QUETTA, Oct 5: The Balochistan High Court (BHC) has ordered senior police officers to reinforce the Sariab police station, helping them arrest the provincial revenue minister and his armed men, who are accused of dispossessing one Waheedur Rehman of his bungalow.
A division bench of the BHC issued the order on Thursday when the Sariab police SHO expressed his inability to arrest Revenue Minister Mir Asim Kurd, his brother Customs Inspector Asif Kurd and some armed men. He said due to lack of police force, he was unable to execute the warrants of arrest for those nominated in the case.
The bench comprising Chief Justice Amanullah Khan Yasinzai and Justice Akhtar Zaman Malghani said that no one was above the law and directed senior police officials to provide more force to the SHO so that he could arrest the accused persons.
Waheed-ur-Rehman had told that he had purchased a bungalow worth Rs32 million in Railway Housing Society from Dr Mohammed Khawajakhel. While the bungalow was being renovated, some 80 armed men led by the minister and his brother dispossessed him of his property without any lawful justification, he added.
The hearing was adjourned till October 10.
