KARACHI, Oct 5: Vice-Chancellor of the Karachi University, Prof Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, in a statement on the World Teachers’ Day has highlighted the role of teachers in imparting knowledge to students.

According to him, the identity of a seat of learning is determined through knowledge and research imparted by teachers.

He said that teachers also played an important role in the character-building process of their students, as well as the younger generation.

The publication of papers in the national and international research journals of repute and exchange of ideas with the students are also important segment of a teacher’s personality.

He hoped that teachers would continue to play their role with determination, commitment and dedication to help enhance the academic standard in the country and ensure better training of our youngsters enabling them to compete at the international level.

FAREWEL DINNER: Dean, Faculty Science, University of Karachi, Prof Iftikhar Imam Naqvi hosted an Iftar dinner on Wednesday to bid farewell to his predecessor Prof Mohammad Qaiser on his retirement.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, Pro-VC Dr Ikhlaq Ahmed and senior faculty members attended the ceremony and paid rich tributes to Prof Qaiser for his valuable services to the cause of education.—APP
