LARKANA, Feb 13: A row has developed between the local police and excise department over the snap checking of vehicles by the excise police in the area.
Larkana DPO Ghulam Nabi Memon said that the excise police should seek permission from the police before going for any snap checking of vehicles.
The director, excise, Larkana, Muneer Ahmad Zardari, said that the excise department was an independent authority and it did not require any permission from the police for conducting snap checking and searches.
The District Police Officer has ordered the SHOs to arrest the excise police personnel who conduct snap checking informing the area police station, following a complain in the Larkana district council session against the irksome attitude of the excise policemen in plain clothes.
The excise director, in a letter to the DPO, Larkana, has challenged the orders of the DPO to arrest the excise police personnel.
DETAINEES: The Sindh High Court, Larkana circuit bench, on Tuesday released six villagers who were illegally confined at the Wagan police station.
SHO Ghulam Murtaza Mirani appeared before the court with the nine persons found in illegal confinement during a raid on the Wagan police stationer by a raid commissioner appointed by the HSC.
They were identified as Maqsood Ali, Rajib Ali, Abdul Ghafoor, Habiullah, Ilahi Bakhsh, Allah Rakhio, Aandal, Malikdino and police head constable Gul Hassan Tunio.
Justice Mohammed Afzal Soomro, after hearing the detainees, SHO and the in charge of the investigation team, ordered to release Maqsood Ali, Rajib Ali, Abdul Ghafoor, Habiullah, Ilahi Bakhsh and Allah Rakhiyo.
