KARACHI, Sept 24: The Sindh Assembly will resume its business after a two-day recess on Monday and it is most likely that the adjournment motion whose notice was given by Nisar Ahmad Khuhro, PPP Parliamentary leader and leader of the opposition, would be taken up for consideration.

This adjournment motion, which pertains to deliberate on the murder of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, former governor and chief minister of Balochistan and leader of Jamhoori Watan Party, have not been taken up since Sept 11 when the requisitioned session began.

Another resolution on the subject, which would be clubbed together if taken up for consideration, was moved by Rafique Engineer in which he had referred of the protest strike and violence in Karachi against Bugti’s killing.

On the last two business days (.i.e. Thursday and Friday), journalists did not report the proceedings in protest against disappearance of their colleague Saeed Sarbazi.

Following his release on Saturday, the journalists would start covering the proceedings from Monday.

On Thursday, the privilege motion of Sharfunnisa Leghari of PPP could not be taken up for want of time as most of the time was consumed after questions hour in raising points of order from both sides of the house. When Ms Leghari rose to move her privilege motion, the chair gave the ruling to take it up on Friday.

During Friday’s session privilege motion of Sharfunnisa Leghari was taken up in the house and its admissibility was discussed short of the ruling by the chair as the speaker said that he would give his ruling on the admissibility of the privilege motion on Monday.

In her privilege motion, Ms Leghari had complained breach of her privilege by the DSP during by-elections of Juhi in Dadu.

Earlier on Thursday, getting advantage of the strength of the opposition’s presence in the house with almost full strength, leader of the opposition made an attempt to move his resolution condemning the murder of Nawab Akbar Bugti during army operation in Balochistan. He requested the chair for relaxation of all rules under 211 and allow him to move the resolution. But his motion was opposed by Law Minister Iftikhar Ahmad Chaudhry.

When the house re-assembled after Zuhr prayers to take up the agenda, Mr Khuhro moved a motion to extend the time until 5pm it was disallowed.
