PESHAWAR, Sept 22: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam’s leader in Waziristan Senator Mohammad Saleh Shah has appreciated efforts of former NWFP governor Khalilur Rehman for the development of the tribal areas.
In a statement issued here, Senator Shah and other JUI leaders said that although Mr Rehman had remained governor for a short period, people in the tribal areas felt that he had taken keen interest in development and prosperity of the area and solution of people’s longstanding problems.
The former governor is currently an adviser to the prime minister.
They expressed the hope that longstanding problems of the tribal people would be solved soon, saying that the incumbent Governor Ali Jan Aurakzai was also working round the clock for the development of the backward territories.—APP
