GUJRANWALA, Sept 13: The district bar association on Wednesday protested against humiliation of bar member and columnist Farooq Alam Ansari and his illegal confinement by investigation SP Mahboob Aslam in his office. It announced a complete strike for Thursday (today).

At a meeting here presided over by DBA president Illyas Rehan, the officials said Farooq Alam went to the investigation SP office in connection with a case. The SP humiliated the bar member and later confined him until he was released on the orders of Additional IGP Malik Muhammad Iqbal.

The lawyers decided that they would observe complete strike on Thursday after boycotting court proceedings and take out procession to press the police to register an FIR against the investigation SP.

A committee, comprising senior lawyers Sheikh Eized Masood, Rana Ibrar Ahmad Khan, Muhammad Saeed Bhutta, Muhammad Ishaq Aulaka and Hafiz Anjum Saeed, was constituted to pursue the case.
