KARACHI, Feb 12: Peshawar took firm control of their crucial Quaid Trophy Grade-I clash against defending champions Lahore Blues at Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar Tuesday.

According to details available here, an eventful opening day saw no less 20 wickets falling after the Blues skipper Saleem Elahi elected to field first at the toss.

Peshawar were restricted to a modest 176 all out in their first innings with left-arm pacer Sajid Ali and Waqas Ahmed sharing eight wickets between them.

But the home team hit back with vengeance to send the champions reeling to 83 all out in 21.3 overs. Fazle Akbar, not for the first time, was in devastating form as he ripped through the visitors’ innings to capture five for 18 in 10.3 overs of hostile pace bowling.

By close of play, Peshawar were one for no wicket. They now lead by 84 runs.
