Samiullah disappointed

KARACHI, Sept 12: Former Olympian Samiullah on Tuesday expressed his disappointment over Pakistan's inability to reach the last four stage of the on-going Hockey World Cup in Germany.

“Every supporter of national sport is dejected at the manner of defeat by the national outfit,” he remarked.

“Pakistan was badly lacking in left wing and in deep defence which brought their downfall,” he pointed out.

He urged the new PHF setup to start planning for 2008 Olympics.

He suggested specialized training of forwards, half backs, deep defenders and goalkeepers from the grassroot level for revival of the sport.—APP
