PESHAWAR, Feb 12: The National Accountability Bureau arrested seven more government officials in the multi-billion Ghazi Barotha Hydropower Project (GBHP) land acquisition scam on Monday and Tuesday.
All the officials have been charged with causing a loss of Rs80.85 million to the exchequer, said a NAB press release on Tuesday.
Those arrested were identified as Abdul Hamid Khan, senior agronomist in Wapda; Zahid Hussain, executive engineer of the GBHP in Attock; Jehan Ali Shah, ex-Patwari in the land acquisition collector office, Attock; and former members of the land valuation committee/beneficiary — Malik Mohammad Nawaz, Sher Muhammad, Munawar Khan and Ahmad Nawaz.
On Tuesday, NAB produced Jehan Ali Shah, Malik Mohammad Nawaz, Sher Mohammad, Munawar Khan and Ahmad Nawaz before an accountability court which granted a 15-day remand of the accused.
