Relative of murder accused shot at

GUJRANWALA, Sept 7: A car driver was shot dead while a relative of the main accused involved in the murder case of PPP’s city president Chaudhry Khalid Humayun sustained serious injuries in a firing by motorcycle riders on Civil Hospital Road here on Thursday.

Reports said that main accused Kashif Siddique, son of former vegetable and fruit market president Chaudhry Siddique, was in jail for his involvement in the PPP’s leader murder case. Victim Shahzada Khurram was returning from the central jail after meeting with the main accused. Armed men riding on a motorcycle opened fire on him when his car reached the Civil Hospital Road.

He suffered critical bullet wounds while driver Ishaq alias Munir died on the spot. The injured was hastened to the DHQ Hospital in serious condition. In his statement, Khurram alleged that assailants were the men of former district naib nazim Gohar Zaman and his brothers.

Civil Lines police are going into the matter.

KIDNAPPED: A trader was kidnapped for ransom of Rs10 million by unidentified men in Dargahpur village, Wahando, on Thursday.

Anwarul Haq of Garjakh was present at his farm when the accused kidnapped him. Later, they demanded Rs10 million ransom for his release.

Police were investigating.

TWO KILLED: Two women were killed while a car driver was injured when a speeding bus hit the four-wheeler on GT Road in Rahwali on Thursday.

The car was parked along the road when the Rawalpindi-bound bus hit it from the rear. As a result, car occupants Saira and Tahira died instantly while driver Iftikhar suffered injuries.

SUSPENDED: An SHO was suspended from service by the DPO on the complaints of public for not registering FIRs here on Thursday.

DPO Mian Muhammad Asif deputed SI Muhammad Hanif in place of suspended SHO Zeshan Iqbal.
