SRINAGAR, Feb 11: Indian forces on Monday claimed they had killed nine Mujahideen in occupied Kashmir, where a one-day strike disrupted normal life in Srinagar.

A police spokesman said three Mujahideen were killed in two separate encounters in the district of Doda on Sunday, while four more were shot dead near the towns of Anantnag and Pulwama.

“The encounters erupted during cordon and search operations by troops,” a spokesman said.

Two more Mujahideen were shot dead on Monday morning in Kupwara district.

In Sringar, shops and businesses closed their shutters to mark the anniversary of the execution of Maqbool Bhat, the founding leader of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF).—AFP
